2021 REVIEWS
The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Wight Vineyard ratchets up the intensity and is a blockbuster styled effort in the vintage. Blackberries, plums, roasted herbs, chocolate, and flowery incense notes all define the aromatics, and it's full-bodied, with a plush, seamless mouthfeel, velvety tannins, and a great finish. It benefits from air and should be given just 2-3 years of bottle age. This ripe, opulent, incredibly sexy 2021 will evolve for 2 decades if well stored.

Moving to the 2021s, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon is a vivid purple hue and offers a gorgeous sense of vibrancy in its plum and blueberry fruits as well as smoked tobacco, dark chocolate, graphite, and violet-driven aromas and flavors. It's full-bodied, layered, has sweet tannins, and a great finish. This opulent, sexy, incredibly satisfying Cabernet Sauvignon will evolve for 10-15 years in cold cellars.

2020 REVIEW
The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon is up-front and plush, with lots of deep red and black fruits as well as scorched earth, graphite, and chocolate aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, fruit-loaded, round, and supple on the palate, it certainly offers ample charm and is best drunk over the coming 7-8 years.

2019 REVIEWS
Riper and more voluptuous, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Wight Vineyard is a selection from the estate vineyard and a smaller production release. It has a wealth of ripe black fruits, smoke tobacco, chocolate, and violets, with more lead pencil and earthy nuances emerging with time in the glass. Concentrated, full-bodied, yet balanced and incredibly pure, it's another terrific, seamless wine from this estate readers will love. I like it today, but give bottles a year or three and enjoy over the following 20+.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is brilliant and has classic varietal aromas and flavors of cassis and dark currants as well as tobacco, cedar pencil, espresso, and spring flowers. With medium to full body, a seamless, elegant mouthfeel, silky tannins, and impeccable balance, it's well worth seeking out and a multi-bottle purchase. I'd certainly be thrilled to have bottles in the cellar. It will have 15-20 years of longevity.

2018 REVIEWS
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Wight Vineyard is a smaller selection from the estate vineyard, and it spent 20 months in 90% new French oak, of which it shows not a trace. Beautiful cassis fruits, notes of smoke, tobacco, and chocolate, full-bodied richness, velvety tannins, and a blockbuster style all define this gorgeous 2018, which offers both intellectual and hedonistic pleasure. It has another two decades of prime drinking ahead of it.

A killer wine as well as a smoking value, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon comes all from the estate vineyard outside of St. Helena and spent 20 months in 70% new French oak. Loads of crème de cassis, blueberries, toasted spices, and flowery incense make up the bouquet, and it hits the palate with a ripe, round, sweetly fruited, perfectly balanced style that’s already impossible to resist.

2017 REVIEWS
“One of the greatest values in Napa Valley Cabernet, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Wight Vineyard is a barrel selection all from the Lewelling Wight Vineyard. Brought up in 90% new French oak, this inky purple-hued beauty boasts a heavenly nose of ripe blueberries, cassis, violets, and graphite, with more damp earth and tobacco nuances emerging with time in the glass. Slightly deeper and richer than the classic Cabernet Sauvignon release, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a massive mid-palate, sweet tannins, and a great, great finish. It’s one of the sexiest, most opulent, and pleasure bent releases in the vintage.”

“The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is a big winner in the vintage, offering a plushness and sexiness that’s hard to find. Loaded with notions of cassis, tobacco, and truffly earth, it’s medium to full-bodied, has a wonderfully pure, balanced, seamless texture, plenty of mid-palate depth, and a great finish. Winemaker Haley Wight continues to fashion a balanced yet opulent style of Cabernet that I absolutely love. Drink this beauty any time over the coming 15-20 years.”

2016 REVIEWS
“There are just over 450 cases of the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Wight Vineyard, another majestic, heavenly example of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from this estate. A selection from the estate vineyard that's all Cabernet aged 20 months in 90% new French oak (it's also bottled unfined and unfiltered), it offers a more pure, focused style than the straight Cabernet Sauvignon (as well as compared to the more over-the-top 2015) yet doesn't lose anything on the opulence and sheer decadence scale. Its incredibly pure bouquet of blueberries, black currants, lead pencil shavings, violets, and damp earth notes all remind me of a great vintage of Ducru-Beaucaillou. Full-bodied, ethereally textured, concentrated, classic and yet just pure deliciousness, this brilliant wine will continue drinking well for two decades.”

“Starting with the larger production (but we're only talking 700 cases), the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon comes all from the estate and is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that spent 20 months in 70% new French oak and was bottled unfined and unfiltered. This sensational effort's purity and balance is something to behold, offering a smorgasbord of creme de cassis, blueberries, tobacco leaf, lavender, damp forest floor, and spring flower-like nuances that develop beautifully with time in the glass. Full-bodied, multi-dimensional, concentrated yet weightless, it's a stunning Napa Cabernet Sauvignon that does everything right. Drink it any time over the coming 15+ years.”
